Dr. Wasim Ahmad selected for prestigious Award in India

Prof. Wasim Ahmad, Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been selected for the prestigious Recognition Award of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences for the last Biennium 2011-2012 for his significant contribution in plant protection. The award consists of a citation, a gold plated silver medal and cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-, which will be presented to him at the inaugural session of the XI Agricultural Science Congress scheduled to be held at Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar during February 7-9, 20I3.

The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences is the highest body of Agricultural Scientists in India. The Academy has instituted awards to recognize scientists for excellence in research in Agricultural and Allied Sciences. Every biennium, five scientists are selected for this award. Prof Ahmad will receive this award in Plant Protection; he is an internationally acclaimed Nematologist with over three decades of research experience on plant parasitic and soil nematode fauna of different Agro-climatic regions of India. Dr Ahmad was responsible for teaching and guiding research to post-graduate nematology course at the University of Gent, Belgium and Universidad de Jaen, Spain.
