The Agricultural Nematology Laboratory (ANL) in the Department of Horticulture of the Michigan State University is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on integrated soil health and nutrient cycling management in small fruit production systems where virus-transmitting nematodes and fungal disease complexes are major problems. The position will be available October 15, 2016. The person who fills this position will be part of a team of plant pathologists, horticulturists and extension specialists and he/she is expected to play a pivotal role. The position will be for year, with the possibility of reappointment based on satisfactory progress. Salary will be based on MSU’s pay scale.

Requirements and expectations: The position requires expertise to identify all nematode trophic groups to genus/family levels using traditional morphometrics as well as analytical ability to use nematode community-based data to identify treatment-induced changes in soil ecosystems and the impact on the balance between harmful and beneficial nematodes (organisms). Experience in statistical design and analysis and in setting up and executing greenhouse on-farm field experiments is required. The position will require writing manuscripts and publishing in a timely manner.
